apollo  : (25 July 2010 - 12:05 PM) Anyone have any recommendations for an EMT program in AB? Preferably Calgary, but can live elsewhere if the education is that much better there. I heard SAIT is crap now? I'm thinking either Professional Medical Associates, Portage, or AHASTI...any insight would be appreciated!
Mobey  : (25 July 2010 - 12:12 PM) I have had AHASTI students, and was always impressed. PMA has a solid EMT course too. Portage is distance ed, so is Lakeland, so if that is what your looking for those are your options. I am a augustana/lakeland student so I am partial. Good luck (stay away from Flatline) oops outside voice!
Scott L  : (25 July 2010 - 02:08 PM) I have to agree with Mobey had alot of good dealings with AHASTI and Lakeland are very good. However I would steer well clear of PMA. Just my opinion but know too many factual horror stories about them.
apollo  : (25 July 2010 - 02:44 PM) Thanks guys! I'm definitely leaning towards AHASTI now, I took my EMR there and they were fantastic. Only thing is I don't see any upcoming EMT programs there (missed the deadline for the August one,) and I'm hoping to take it in October/Nov or Dec at the latest. Would I be able to get some more info Re: Horror stories with PMA from you Scott? Totally understand if you don't want to share because of confidentiality purposes, but if you can share them it'd help out a lot. They have a course starting at the perfect time for me, and they offer EMT-P, so definitely a bit bummed to hear they might not be the best route. If you'd prefer to e-mail me I can send you my email address. Thanks!
